Why I practice Baptiste Yoga
I was fortunate enough to discover yoga when I was in middle school in Seattle. Yoga was offered as a PE credit, so as a serious soccer player, I figured some “extra stretching” would be a good idea. Little did I know that class would open me up to a whole new world that would include much more than stretching.
Over time, Yoga for me has become a safe space – a safe space to explore my feelings, a safe space to connect deeply with other like-minded people, and a practice that increases my physical strength to more safely practice other sports.
I practice Baptiste Yoga because this practice helps me to shed the doubts, the ‘should’s, the ‘could’s and ideas of who I ought to be, bringing me closer to who I really am – mentally, spiritually, and physically.
Why I teach Baptiste Yoga
I teach Baptiste yoga because this practice and this community have transformed my life and I hope to contribute to these transformations in others. Each class is an opportunity to go deeper and to find your power - both physically and mentally. My hope is to create a safe and inviting space for you to find what you need on your mat.
My promise to you
As a yoga teacher, my hope is that you come to class with whatever you are carrying, and you leave class feeling a little bit lighter. I like to remind students that yoga is a practice - it won’t be perfect and it's not meant to be. I invite students to fall out of poses, try new things, and even try a smile on their face while holding a difficult pose.
